Living Soils Forum at Vinexpo Paris
For three days on February 10-12, Moët Hennessy, which owns maisons such as Moët & Chandon, Dom Perignon, Veuve Clicquot, Krug, Ruinart, Hennessy, Glenmorangie, Ardbeg etc. sold by MHD Moët Hennessy Diageo K.K. , set up a booth focused on the environment and sustainable development and held conferences on "Living Soils" at Vinexpo Paris, the international event of the wine and spirits industry.
The forum organized by Moët Hennessy out of its eco-designed agora using recycle corks and barrels will be part of LVMH’s decades-long commitment to responsible luxury. This forum is placed under the unifying banner of the Moët Hennessy’s commitment to Living Soils. This initiative that articulates the Wines & Spirits Division of the Group’s desire to "share all solutions that can help viticulture advance as a whole because the ecological challenges facing wine and spirits are intimately linked to our soils, according to Philippe Shaus," CEO of Moët Hennessy.
On this occasion, Moët Hennessy made three announcements:
・In 2020, all of MH vineyards in Champagne will be herbicide-free (ZERO in all Champagne region by 2025) and the Division will provide support to winegrower partners to help them become certified sustainable.
・Moët Hennessy will invest €20M in a research center in the Champagne Region devoted to scientific research around sustainable viticulture.
・A "University of Living Soils" will be created to encourage the sharing of knowledge and best practices. Its aim will be to enrich the debates on progress toward a more sustainable future for wine and spirits in an inclusive way.
Maisons’ presidents, directors of vineyards and sustainable development, Chef de Cave, university researchers, sommeliers, chefs, international organization representatives, NGOs, and startups specializing in sustainable development technologies participated 30 minutes panel discussion for three days. The themes covered living soils, climate change, biodiversity, water, environmental certification, sustainable agriculture, logistics, packaging materials, creativity, luxury business responsibilities, and wine and gastronomy in 2050 sponsored by Alain Ducasse.Moët Hennessy wishes to unify its communities around the world and lead the industry to sustainable development.
